Holy Fuck - in Session
Is Clint Boon the new Tony Wilson? Let's hope so, I love the half dozen kids stood around feeling slightly awkward whilst Holy Fuck do their stuff. Boon's interview mid session is a classic, especially about getting 'turned on', I can believe it!

Tat's Tribute to Electro Volume 1
No not the electro of post 2000, but the sounds from back in the day (whenever that was - email us with the answer). This is a mix of some of the finest moments from the early to mid 80s when the sounds coming out of New York and London ruled the underground hip hop scene. Please note, I did this mix about 10 years ago, and never tracklisted it, so I've compiled it from memory - apologies for any mistakes. Now get that lino out and show us some fresh moves.Whodini - Five Minutes Of Funk
Man Parrish Featuring Freeze Force - Boogie Down (Bronx)
Mantronix - Needle To The Groove
Captain Rock - Cosmic Blast (Dub)
Z-3 MC's - Triple Threat
Boogie Boys - Zodiac
D.St. & Jalaludin M. Nuriddin - Mean Machine
Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five - Scorpio
Newcleus - Let's Jam
Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force - Looking For The Perfect Beat

Hashim - We're Rocking the Planet (Cutting Records)

In terms of short but sweet output, Jerry Calliste Jr AKA Hashim produced some of the finest electro of it's time. Signed to the seminal Cutting Records out of New York, Hashim first appeared on the hip hop radar back in 1983 with Al-Naafiysh (The Soul). Other offerings followed including Primrose Path, but it's this beauty we turn our attention to. Taking all the good bits from the electro scene of the time tinged with what was happening in the UK with bands such as John Foxx and Gary Numan and flashbacks to Kraftwerk, Hashim carved out some era-defining moments.
